Academic activities
- Prof Wegener is an active researcher: he authored and co-authored more than 240 papers, first of all on such subjects as gastrointestinal motility, innovative gastrointestinal endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, espcially in endoscopic tumor resection, new developments in immunmodulatory and chemotherpeutic oncology and rheumatology
- He started his clinical and research career at the Medical University in Bochum and since 2019 he has been actively involved in developing and expanding the German Endoscopic Fullthickness Resection Bank of gastrointestinal tumors
