Nuclear Medicine
Our specialists in nuclear medicine offer our patients a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive substances. We use the most modern nuclear medicine technologies.
In addition to standard treatments and methods, our hospitals specialize in the following types of therapy and procedures:
A new procedure (the Lu-177 PSMA therapy) combines exact diagnostics with efficient therapy. This opens up additional treatment options for patients with prostate cancer, particularly those with advanced metastatic disease.
Our specialists in nuclear medicine offer patients a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive materials. One of these procedures is the MIBG therapy which is used to treat a range of cancer diseases called neuroendocrine tumors.
Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) is a molecular therapy used to treat a specific type of cancer called neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). This therapy can now be offered to patients with this condition at the Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch.
Nuclear medicine involves using radioactive substances for diagnostics and treatment. What is the difference between nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and radiology? What is radionuclide therapy, and what approaches are currently the most promising? These are the topics of our conversation with Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Dresel, Chief Physician of the Nuclear Medicine Department of the Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch.
The nuclear medicine department at Helios Hospital Krefeld offers the new targeted PSMA therapy for prostate cancer. Using radioactive substances, cancer cells can be reliably marked and irradiated at the same time - a combination of precise diagnostics and efficient therapy. Helios Hospital Krefeld is the first clinic on the left bank of the Lower Rhine to offer this new therapy method for patients with advanced prostate cancer.
The Nuclear Medicine Department at Helios Hospital Krefeld now has a gallium-68 generator for the production of radioactive gallium-68. This substance plays a decisive role in the high-precision diagnosis of prostate cancer and its spread, among other things. This is because gallium-68-PSMA, which is produced on site, is used in PET-CT imaging. Patients are injected with the weak radioactive marker, also known as a tracer, which ensures that even the smallest tumor foci become visible during imaging. This enables even more precise diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
Helios is one of Europe's leading hospital networks, with more than 80 hospitals and over 80,000 employees providing high-quality medical care. In Germany, the Helios network comprises more than 80 hospitals, around 200 Medical Care Centres (MVZs, outpatient medical centres), six...
We offer you not only physiotherapy and equipment training, but also prevention courses, pre-rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, occupational therapy and pre-operative training - all in all, a comprehensive range of treatments that is second to none.
