Helios Pforzheim strengthens its vascular surgery department

Originally from Sri Lanka, the 41-year-old vascular surgeon holds the additional qualification of Endovascular Surgeon (DGG) and the prestigious European title Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS), one of the highest internationally recognized credentials in European vascular surgery.
He completed his specialist training in vascular surgery in Celle before serving for many years as a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of the Vascular Surgery Section at Konstanz Hospital. Most recently, Ukwatte worked at Helios Hospital München West under the leadership of Professor Reza Ghotbi, a renowned specialist in the treatment of complex aortic diseases.
At Helios Hospital Pforzheim, Ukwatte and his experienced team now provide the full spectrum of modern vascular care — from prevention and diagnostics to highly complex open and minimally invasive procedures.
Their areas of expertise include:
- open and endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms;
- surgical treatment of carotid artery stenosis to prevent stroke;
- treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) using advanced catheter-based techniques, balloon angioplasty, stent implantation, and bypass surgery;
- treatment of diabetic foot syndrome;
- vascular access (shunt) surgery for dialysis patients.
